Lovely area, Very friendly amazing staff and Delicious beautifully presented food.The only two things i would say need attention are the dodgy elevator/lift with the doors sticking half open with the rooms also having some wear and tear, Needing a little revamp.I do understand its a very old building and i hate to think of the up keep costs but we really did have a great stay

This truly is a gem amongst hotels. The staff made us feel very welcome and all went out of their way to help.

Food is great, and plenty to choose from

from the impressive view of the castle as you drive up the drive ..to the warm welcome at the reception..our abba event and service at the event was 5*...and a thank you to the lovely lady who met all our needs from table 1...to all the team ..THANK YOU..

We have had the most wonderful experience getting married at Barony Castle. The Elibank Suite is beautiful. Hannah (wedding co-ordinator) was exceptional. The food is stunning. The staff are amazing. We were so looked after from our first visit and every time we have been. We had a perfect wedding day and Barony Castle will forever have such a special place in our hearts. We feel that they truly wanted us to have the day we dreamed of and delivered it seamlessly.

We had a lovely stay at Barony Castle! All the staff were so nice and helpful, thanks to Bethany especially! Our room was great, with a nice view of the garden, and the walks around the grounds in the snow were really pretty - we hope to be back soon!

Beautiful hotel that has the great Polish Map of Scotland set within it grounds. Well worth viewing as really impressive, amazing all the history behind it and it's part of Scotland heritage sites.

Stayed two nights with a large group booking. Staff very welcoming, good customer service throughout. Prebooked 3 course eve meal, all good. Asked for room with a bath and they kindly accommodated giving us a family room. Bath very small though. Bathroom door creaky. Toilet seat loose. Tv remote useless. Mattress not good, could feel springs. Needs a mattress topper. Room was a bit too warm even without heating on although fan provided. It was cold nov weekend. To be fair did not raise issues with reception as previous reviews suggest little point. Would probably stay again if price was reasonable

Great food and stay spa is very dated

Can't say much about the hotel we stopped to view the scotland relief map in the grounds. We had a coffee in the lounge afterwards. The service was good as was the coffee. The hotel is clean and appears well run. Would definitely consider staying over.

Stayed for a few nights as working nearby. Long driveway goes to the hotel, quite an impressive building, plenty of parking out front. Reception staff friendly and efficient.Restaurant was always busy, seated in the bar area both nights. Food was good, came out pretty fast. Bar menu and restaurant menu available, both have decent options.Room was a nice, little bit tired in places but good enough.

Attended a wedding at this wonderful venue. What a weekend! Staff were unbelievable, food delicious and bar prices were very reasonable. Had an amazing time and I would highly recommend.

A stunningly located castle, a little dated and in need of modernising but a pleasant stay. Staff were nice, food was good (coffee machines at breakfast is the only bad point, not very good at all). Rooms are ok, bathrooms could certainly do with an upgrade from the 90's bath suite. If you can get a room dinner and breakfast it is a deal, but be wary, your credit for dinner does not include alcohol, so make sure to spend all your credit on the delicious food.

Went here for a beautiful wedding, grounds were lovely and the rooms for the wedding/reception/party were decorated beautifully! Had an amazing time and stayed overnight. Breakfast was a basic buffet but covered everything I'd like and didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

Stunning Wedding Venue!We have stayed at Barony Castle for overnight spa breaks for a number of years now and it soon became our favourite getaway. After our proposal in the grounds we knew Barony would be the perfect wedding venue.Hannah our wedding planner, and all the staff, are a real credit to Barony Castle. Hannah guided us every step of the way throughout the planning process and on the day itself. She ensured we had the perfect day and that everything ran smoothly.From our previous stays, we already knew how amazing the food and drinks were, but as part of our package we were invited up to sample all four courses of our wedding meal, including drinks, and we were blown away by the quality. All of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed their meals and on the food and drinks in general as most of our guests stayed for two nights.As for the actual venue itself, the grounds are stunning. Even after all these years we are still finding lovely new areas when we go out for our walks.The Elibank and Meldons function rooms are both beautiful and when set up on the day, looked absolutely stunning!The guest bedrooms are cosy, comfortable and always clean. We have stayed in most of the suites now which are all amazing, the Dean View and Eddleston suites in particular are gorgeous. We enjoyed an extra nights stay after our wedding in the Dean View which we would highly recommend.As part of our package, we were provided with and recommended all of our wedding suppliers. Again, these were all fantastic, easy to deal with, super friendly and professional in their work. Special shout outs to Brian Cassidy (Photographer) and his lovely wife Irene, Lynsey (Florist, Blooming Bunch), Beth Ritchie (Makeup Artist), Emily French (Hairdresser). Not only were they all amazing at their jobs, but were the kindest, friendliest people who made our day extra special.All in all, we simply cannot recommend Barony Castle highly enough. We had the most amazing wedding day and wish we could do it all again!We have already booked a party there for our 1st wedding anniversary and look forward to seeing the Barony team again soon.

Very clean and tidy however the rooms are a little outdated and bathrooms leave a bit to be desired.Food was good and service was also good.

We must be lucky because we always seem to pick a place that always offers great value and have staff that are always pleasant and accommodating and Barony Castle Hotel in right there with all of that. The rooms are clean and tidy, the staff have given 100% with attitude and are so friendly. The hotel, is a little out of the way of the nearest town of Peebles but don't let that put you off as it's only about 5 miles and and it makes up for that by having all the amenities you need and being such a chilled relaxing place to stop why do you need the bright lights of a small town just do n the road. If you are in the area it's well worth a consideration if you need a place to stay.

Visited for lunch. The hotel is set in delightful settingLunch was excellent, well prepared and tasty. The choice fur the set menu was limited but at £17.85 for two courses it was good value.Pate is highly recommended.

we have stayed at Barony a few times as we planned to have our wedding there. We had our special day on Wednesday which was amazing. Hannah and the team did an amazing job. All the staff were absolutely amazing and made our stay so special.

This is a beautiful looking hotel with an amazing frontage. Plenty of car parking. The old building is a little tired in places but this adds to its charm. There is a swimming pool with jacuzzi and sauna. The staff are all very friendly and professional. The table service by Luke in the main restaurant was very good. The food is really nice. This family owned hotel was exceptional in its day and the current owners are clearly trying to bring back that special experience. It is situated about a half hour drive from Straiton park and ride with another half hour bus ride into Edinburgh.

We parked here to see the Polish Map of Scotland. Went into the hotel and had a tea and scones. Was very nice and the service was good. Hotel looked good.

The staff’s warmth and attentiveness set the tone from the start. Delicious food and a great selection of cocktails added the perfect finishing touch to a enjoyable experience.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at Barony Castle as a last minute get away. We booked the lady marie suite (room 123). The room was spacious, and the bed, pillows and sofa were very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the shower had good pressure. What let the room down was the cleanliness. There was large brown stains over the carpet, sticky coffee splashes over the doors and frames, and our coffee cups were not clean (old coffee stains and lipstick around the edge). The coffee machine also had old pods still in it. The room (as well as the whole building) was incredibly hot! We were thankful for the fan in the room. We dined here for 1 night in the restaurant. The steak on the stone was lovely and would definitely recommend! And the desserts and irish coffees were nice at the end of the meal. The starters were a bit of a let down, especially the pigeon and barley risotto! The meat was very tough, overcooked and the risotto was bland. The service in the bar and restaurant was good! There was a bit of a wait between courses/ getting drinks but there was a wedding on at the same time and the staff were incredibly busy! The breakfast in the morning was ok, not a huge amount of choice for bread or pastries, but the hot food was typical hotel buffet breakfast. Overall, it was a nice stay and we enjoyed our weekend but there is room for improvement, especially with the rooms and general maintenance.

Nice stop over when heading upto or down from Scotland. Far enough away from the Edinburgh bike thief's to leave your bike for the night without a worry.Castle is nice, rooms a bit basic but excellent value and the staff are very friendly.

Loved our little get away to Barony castle. The building itself is so beautiful! The room was spacious, pool was lovely and the food was incredible! Lots to do in the area as well. The staff are super helpful. Would recommend to anyone!

We had our wedding at the barony on the 26th July 2024 and what a day it was.

We cannot thank Hannah and the staff at the barony hotel enough they went above and beyond for us and made our day so special.

I was a very nervous bride but Hannah was amazing with me any questions I had she was brilliant and helped in any way she could.

All our guests absolutely loved the meal adults and children’s dishes were fantastic.

Thank you so much for all yous did for us and we can’t wait to come back and celebrate our 1 year anniversary at the barony castle hotel

Callum and I got married at Barony Castle Hotel on the 24th of May 2024.

We cannot fault the team at Barony who worked so hard to make our day as special as possible.

Despite the weather not being great and not managing to have the outdoor wedding we had initially planned, Hannah made sure we still had the most magical day indoors.

All the staff were extremely kind and well-organised. They definitely helped make our day as special as possible.

The food we had was amazing. We highly recommend the Thai Style Noodle Box for the evening buffet.
The kitchen was very accommodating of allergies and requirements. Both my husband and I are vegetarian. They went out of their way to accommodate us and allowed us to have two vegetarian options on our menu.

All of our guests were extremely happy with their rooms. Callum and I were extremely happy with our suites. 😍

We highly recommend Barony as a wedding venue or even somewhere to stop and have some lunch.

We are really looking forward to our one-year anniversary and having the pleasure of celebrating this at Barony.

The entire Barony Castle team deserves applause. Their friendliness and dedication meant that no request was too much, and they consistently went the extra mile for us.

We were particularly taken with the well-organised wedding packages on offer. Teaming up with top-notch suppliers, they managed to take the hustle and bustle out of our preparations, offering a surprisingly stress-free planning experience.

A special mention must be made about the food - from the starters right through to the desserts, everything was impeccable.

I was with a friend for lunch,really friendly staff greeted us and helped us to our table, the menu was very limited as it was lunch time, I would assume there will be more choice on the dinner menu.
The food was well cooked and very tasty I really enjoyed my lunch, and the service.
