The Tontine Hotel in Peebles has been acquired by the owners of Barony Castle Hotel in Eddleston. This move sees ownership transfer from Gordon and Kate Innes, who have owned and managed the Tontine since 2001, to the family owned and run Barony Castle Hotel.
Barony Castle Hotel was purchased in 2012 by two local families who continue to manage the hotel on a hands-on basis. As with Barony the families are pleased to have retained a core team of staff at the Tontine.

Kate Innes:-
Gordon and I are very proud of the many improvements we have implemented to the Tontine hotel over the past 21 years and we leave happy in the knowledge that the Tontine is a thriving business with an excellent team and that the new owners are 100% committed to delivering the service you are all accustomed to. Our heartfelt THANKS to our amazing team, customers, suppliers & friends, both past & present, for your incredible support over the past 21 years, without which none of this would have been possible. We leave the Tontine in excellent hands, certain that it will remain ‘the hotel in the heart of Peebles’ so please continue to come in and enjoy everything that the hotel has to offer.
Susan Allan, Sales and Marketing Director:-
Our sales & marketing team is extremely excited with the addition of the Tontine Hotel and continuing the excellent work undertaken by Kate, Gordon and the team. Having two well known and respected properties in the Scottish Borders will allow us to offer some unique experiences.
Steven Colquhoun, Group Operations Director:-
The management team have exciting plans for the Tontine, originally commissioned by Kate & Gordon including ongoing refurbishment of the hotel as well as bringing new booking and operational systems in line with Barony Castle. They are committed to the Tontine continuing to be “the Hotel in the heart of Peebles” while modernising and refreshing their offering to appeal to both regular and new guests.
The group has employment opportunities in many areas, including management and dual-site positions, and offers competitive pay and excellent benefits. They believe that hospitality is a core business in the Scottish Borders and want to see this grow and thrive to the benefit of the community as a whole.
